A very big announcement
We’re so excited to announce that the brand new Pro Writing Coach Podcast is finally here!
The idea to create a podcast started from a conversation around the dinner table during the spring of 2020. It first began as a little idea to teach writing skills remotely, but quickly turned into a much bigger, bolder mission to offer everyone the support needed to improve their writing skills. As real life challenges, like remote work/school creeped into our lives, we took our time planning a podcast strategy and getting all of the right pieces into place.
Communicating through writing requires two separate sets of skills.
- You need to master the mechanics of writing. This includes the ability to accurately put together words and sentences following the rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Another way to think about this is understanding HOW to write.
- You need to be able to communicate a message, convey meaning, and connect with your audience. This requires you to understand the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and WHY of writing.
The first part – practical writing skills – are what we learn in school when we’re taught how to read and write. The second part? No one teaches you how to do that, especially not in the real world, or at a job.
And that’s what this podcast is all about.
The Pro Writing Coach podcast tackles the messier, less well-known side of writing. The side that isn’t taught in textbooks and is made up of ideas and emotions and unwritten rules that no one tells you.
Like how to quit your job. When you’re ready to leave, what do you need to communicate? How do you do this in a professional way? What should you write down and what are you supposed to say? How do you deal with feelings of guilt about leaving? Don’t worry, we have answers for you.
We hope you’ll listen to our first three episodes (that’s right, we didn’t want to start with just one) and maybe learn a thing or two about the writing we all do every day. Feel free to share your thoughts and ideas for future episodes.
